Clarification about the DEIR

 Please don't be confused by the DEIR.  This is a document that is paid for by those that want to drill for oil.  Since those that are drilling are the customer the DEIR is written in their favor.  This document only makes suggestions.  Anything in it especially alternate sites and mitigation issues are suggestions.  For an example, if it says the well sites and road can be located to another area.  That is no guarantee it will happen.  The likelihood of these suggestions happening are slim to none.  The scoping document is the blue print of  the project.  So before you come to the conclusion that all other documents are wrong just be aware the DEIR does not have the final say.

Clarification about the DEIR  

The EIR proposes to mitigate all but six of more than 200 negative environmental impacts.  The EIR further minimizes effects on real estate values by grossly underestimating values of affected homes.  Concerns about fire hazards, pipe deterioration and potential leakage of contaminated materials are validated.  Traffic on Colima will increase and certain view corridors to the south west will be severely impacted.  In response, the City is now considering shifting the location of the project so as to burden residents in West Whittier and Uptown.
