If you ever wanted to know the truth about the oil project to include supporting documentation.......Here it is.

 

2006
The Oil project started in October of 2006.  The City of Whittier had Matrix look at some wells in the Landfill.  Matrix told the City they were non producers.  Matrix wanted make a deal with the City for a 2 acre site just outside the land fill.  Also read what former City Manager Steve Helvey wrote.  Read e-mails to the right.

City of Whittier signs a Letter of Intent with Matrix Oil on November 27, 2007 for the Oil Project.  Whittier did not go out to bid until for the oil project until August 26, 2008.  The Oil Project was code named AMI Area of Mutual Interest.  Read e-mail to the right.

City was working on a deal with Matrix long before the bid process (August 26, 2008).  Clayton Williams was involved in early 2008.  They were trying to figure out how to make a single source bid.  They also helped with the lease.  Read e-mails on right between City of Whittier, Clayton Williams Energy and Matrix Oil.  You will be surprised.  See e-mails on right.

According to the County of Los Angeles any money from the oil project can only be used for Open Spaces and excess will be used for Parks.  The money will not off-set the City's Park and Rec budget or go to the General fund.  We have the letter from L.A. County that says that.  See e-mail dated December 9, 2009 and the letter dated January 6, 2010 from L.A. County to right.
